Chester Webb Award for Distinguished Service, to Birmingham business leader and trucking industry veteran Susan Kirkpatrick of Buddy Moore Transportation. She was honored during the 2025 Alabama Trucking Convention, held recently at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort.

The award, honoring individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Alabama's trucking industry and the communities they serve, was presented to her by Tim Frazier, last year’s recipient and a senior advisor for ATA.

Frazier, in his remarks, reflected on the honor of receiving the Webb Award and highlighted the profound impact of this year’s recipient.

“The H. Chester Webb Award represents the pinnacle of leadership, safety, and service in our industry,” he said. “Tonight’s honoree, Susan Kirkpatrick, embodies everything this accolade stands for.”

“Susan Kirkpatrick has not only led with distinction but has also played a vital role in strengthening Alabama’s trucking industry,” said ATA Chairman of the Board Joe Black. “Her influence extends beyond her impressive career achievements to the positive impact she has had on countless individuals and businesses in our state.”

ATA President & CEO Mark Colson said Kirkpatrick’s lasting impact on the people who work in the industry is tremendous. "She genuinely cares about people and leads with compassion," he said. "She never misses a chance to thank a driver or recognize the individuals who make our industry great. She truly embodies the spirit of an Alabama Trucking legend!"

Kirkpatrick, a member of one of Alabama’s most influential trucking families, has dedicated her career to the industry and exemplifies strong, trailblazing leadership, according to a statement from the ATA. Before co-founding the flatbed operation Buddy Moore Transportation with her late father, Buddy Moore, and brother Buck, she spent two decades in high-level management positions in the banking sector, where she honed her leadership and business acumen.

Kirkpatrick’s impactful contributions have earned her well-deserved recognition. Honored as one of AL.com’s “Women Who Shaped the State,” she was also recently inducted into the Alabama Trucking Foundation TITANS, an elite group of industry champions who commit time and financial resources to programs that promote the industry in workforce development and public relations. These and other accolades highlight her passion and commitment to supporting and giving back to the trucking community.

Leveraging her talent and extensive experience as a trucking business owner and banking executive, she has also played a pivotal role in transforming the ATA Comp Fund, the sister organization of the Alabama Trucking Association, into one of the nation’s largest self-insured funds. The fund provides members with reliable, cost-effective workers’ compensation coverage alongside comprehensive workplace safety training programs.

“We are incredibly proud to see Susan honored with this prestigious award,” said Fund President & CEO Kimble Coaker. “She has always been an influential and effective leader: intelligent, insightful, and deeply earnest in everything she does. Her great sense of humor, unwavering support, and genuine care for others make her a respected colleague and a true friend to many. Her legacy of hard work and heartfelt leadership inspires us all.”
