Drivers raised $110,053 for the American Cancer Society in the annual Trucker’s Parade Against Cancer in Charlotte, Virginia. On Oct. 14, 224 drivers drove in the parade, carrying a total of 277 banners in memory of individuals who suffered from cancer.

Parade organizer Sheila Jones said when the annual parade first started in 2000, 40 drivers participated. Over time it’s grown into a large annual event for the trucking community.

“It just shows us that they are an awesome group of people and they want to help us in the fight to find a cure,” Jones said. “It’s mind boggling that so many are willing to come out on their one day off and help us.”
