The driver of a truck hauling mail for the U.S. Postal Service died in an early morning crash Sunday, June 9 in southern Califonia.
California Highway Patrol reports the mishap occurred at about 4 a.m. on State Route 22 in Garden Grove, California when the truck struck a vehicle involved in a one-car crash a bit earlier. The tractor-trailer hit that vehicle, struck an impact barrier, rolled onto its side and caught fire at about 4 a.m.
The unidentified truck driver died at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle in the first accident was later arrested by CHP on suspicion of driving under the influence.

On Saturday, June 8, a trucker was injured when the tractor-trailer he was driving hit an impact barrier and rolled onto its side on northbound Interstate 5 near Albany, Oregon
The driver, Steven Howard, 58, of Salem, Oregon, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with serious injuries, according to media reports.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred near Exit 233. The truck’s load of Gatorade spilled, closing the highway for about 45 minutes.
Police continue to investigate.
