More than 29,000 Freightliner and Western Star trucks being recalled

More than  29,000 Freightliner and Western Star trucks are being recalled to repair a steer axle problem. 

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC is recalling certain 2023-2024 Freightliner 108SD, 114SD, Business Class M2, Cascadia, 2024 Western Star 57X, and 2023 Freightliner 122SD vehicles. The steer axle wheel flanges on these trucks may crack and cause damage to the tires, which could cause a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The NHTSA said a remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 2. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL999.
