Pennsylvania targets safe summer driving behaviors along Interstate 81

Pennsylvania State Police, the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration have combined efforts to step up traffic safety this summer along Interstate 81.

During two five-day enforcement periods last month, PSP traffic stops on I-81 resulted in 1,322 traffic citations and 1,119 written warnings being issued. A total of 299 commercial vehicles were inspected during the safety enforcement efforts.

During a recent media event, the PSP, PMTA, and FMCSA stressed the importance of safe driving behavior by all motorists and stressed the importance of being aware of special circumstances when driving near commercial motor vehicles.

The special enforcement effort continues through the rest of July and all of August.
