Johnnie Cobb, a truck driver for Boyd Bros. Transportation, (#92 on the Commercial Carrier Journal’s Top 250 ranking) was recently honored for driving 3 million safe miles.
For the past 28 years, Cobb has driven for Boyd Bros. and is the seventh Boyd driver to reach the 3 million mile mark.
“I didn’t even know I had reached it until they told me,” said Cobb. “It was just another day to me.”
On Friday, May 8, Cobb was honored by his family, friends and co-workers. He was honored with an proclamation from the governor of Alabama, and Boyd Bros. declared May 8 as Johnnie Cobb Day going forward.
“I drive like I have my family with me every day,” said Cobb. “I drive like my family’s right beside me. That’s how I know I’m going to take my time and do things right.”
Since starting his driving career with Boyd Bros. in 1986, Cobb said a lot has changed but he’s not ready to leave the road just yet. He is already looking forward to reaching his next goal of four million safe miles.
“Our drivers are world class and their professionalism driving these highways every day really is the differentiator that set us apart,” said Chris Cooper, president of Boyd Brothers Transportation, which is headquartered in Clayton, Ala. “We are extremely proud of Johnnie and feel very fortunate to have him as part of the Boyd family.”
