Meals for 18 Wheels delivered 395 plates of food to truck drivers on Nov. 26-27, Thanksgiving day and the Friday after.
The plate count, posted to the group’s Facebook page, is a combined number from the page’s administrators and volunteers who delivered multiple plates in their communities.
MF18W worked with a team of over 1,000 registered volunteers to deliver meals to drivers who were spending the Thanksgiving holiday working. On Thanksgiving day, the group’s administrators posted to the MF18W Facebook page asking drivers in need of a meal to provide an estimated time of when and where they would be stopping. Administrators then located volunteers in the proximity to those drivers and coordinated getting them a meal.
The group had hoped to be able to feed at least 200-250 drivers.
