Make no mistake Joe Ricardi is a native New Yorker, and a trucker through and through; one persona is as strong as the other.

Although Ricardi left his native Brooklyn as a kid, his work as a truck driver had him driving back and forth between Upstate and the city for many years. Needless to say, he amassed numerous memories of the city, including picking up and delivering paperwork to the World Trade Center.

He was in Manhattan in 1993 when a truck loaded with explosives was detonated below the North Tower. And, Ricardi returned to the city in 2001 when the Twin Towers fell, helping pals at a fire station in the Bronx.

Ricradi was honored by the American Truck Historical Society earlier this year. That’s when we had the opportunity to talk to him.
