A driver for AAA Cooper Transportation is being honored for rescuing people from a burning vehicle.
The Truckload Carriers Association named Marco Medel Morga, has been named the newest TCA Highway Angel for his heroic actions at the scene of a serious crash in Kaneville, Illinois.
TCA explains:
Marco Medel MorgaOn July 15, at about 12:28 p.m. EST, Morga was traveling east on Interstate 88 near Kaneville when he witnessed a serious accident unfold in the left lane just ahead of him. Reacting quickly, he managed to avoid contact with either of the vehicles involved.
“I was so close to hitting them, but I got lucky,” he said.
Rather than continuing on his route, Morga safely pulled his truck onto the shoulder and immediately ran to assist. Upon arriving at the scene, he discovered that one of the vehicles had caught fire.
“The car was on fire and nobody was getting out of it,” Morga said. “I got nervous about the people in the car — I had to go help them.”
Without hesitation, Morga helped one of the passengers escape from the burning vehicle, ensuring their safety before emergency responders arrived. The other person in the vehicle, a woman, safely exited the car.
Morga joins a distinguished group of professional drivers who have made a positive difference on the roadways. Since the TCA Highway Angel program’s inception in August 1997, nearly 1,500 professional truck drivers have been recognized as TCA Highway Angels for exemplary kindness, courtesy, and courage displayed while on the job.
Thanks to the program’s presenting sponsor, EpicVue, and supporting sponsors, DriverFacts and Northland Insurance, TCA is able to showcase outstanding drivers like Morga.
