Temporary urgent care facility that will be located at an Oreon truck stop.

A truck stop in Oregon is adding an amenity rarely seen at even the biggest facility: full-service medical care.

Samaritan Health Services will develop an urgent care medical facility at a truck stop at the intersection of Interstate 5 and Highway 228 west of Brownsville in western Oregon.

The facility at the Pioneer Villa Truck Plaza, which is located between Eugene and Albany, will be staffed by physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. According to an article on the Albany Democrat-Herald’s website, it will offer routine urgent care for the public, plus annual DOT physicals, laboratory work and X-rays, as well as drug and alcohol testing required by the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The truck stop, which opened in 1963, already has a market, restaurant, motel and fueling stations.

No timeline was give for the addition of the medical facility.
