The best way to eat healthy is to cook for yourself. This slow cooker marinara sauce recipe lets you ditch the store bought sauce for a healthier alternative.

The recipe has the classics needed for a good marinara: onion, garlic, basil, oregano, crushed red pepper flakes and tomatoes. The ingredients get mixed together in a 4-5 quart slow cooker and that’s it. Just let it cook on low for about six hours. This recipe yields about 2 1/2 quarts. Combine it with pasta and your choice of meat for a complete pasta dish.
