Speed limiter proposal pushed back; expected in April

The brakes were once again put on the publication of a proposed rule that would require speed limiters on trucks. It had been due out this week but it is now expected next month.

The U.S. Department of Transportation pushed back the projected publication date for the proposed rule that would require speed limiters on heavy-duty trucks to April 22. It had previously been scheduled to appear this week on March 15.

Under the rule, governors would be mandatory on all trucks weighing more than 27,000 pounds. The proposed rule has been stuck in the White House’s Office of Management and Budget since May of 2015.
