Severe thunderstorms forecast for the East

Severe thunderstorms are possible across large parts of the country, from the eastern Great Lakes through the Ohio Valley and into the Appalachians today, Friday July 8, according to The Weather Channel.

The National Weather Service issued the following:

“There is potential for severe thunderstorms across much of the Eastern U.S. Friday afternoon and evening ahead of a cold front that will cross the region tonight into Saturday. The primary threat from these storms will be damaging wind gusts, as well as some locally very heavy downpours. With the exception of New England and northern New York, Friday will be another warm and muggy mid-summer day across the East.”
