Military veterans who are rookie truck drivers have the opportunity to win a Kenworth T680 Advantage as part of the 2018 “Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence” program.
The award recognizes top rookie military veteran truck drivers, and is a partnership between Kenworth, Fastport and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes initiative. This is the third consecutive year for the program.
Nominations opened Thursday, March 15 and will remain open through June 30. Nominations can be submitted online.
The winner, who will be chosen by a panel of judges, will receive a free Kenworth T680 Advantage with a 76-inch sleeper, 455-hp Paccar MX-13 and Paccar 40,000-pound tandem rear axle.
To qualify for the program, drivers must:
- Have been active military or member of the National Guard or Reserve
- Have graduated from a PTDI-certified, MAPFTDS or CVTA member driver training school with a valid CDL
- Be employed by a trucking company that has made a hiring commitment and pledge to hire veterans on the Trucking Track Mentoring Program website
- Been first hired in a trucking position between Jan. 1, 2017, and June 30, 2018
