Sneezing fit sets tank truck rollover in motion

Indiana State Police report that a tanker driver rolled their truck on I-65 near the Crown Point exit Sunday June 3 after having a sneezing fit while driving.

A statement from the troopers says Julie Duncan, 55 of Canton, Michigan was driving a 2012 Volvo semi pulling a tanker trailer southbound on I-65 in the left lane in a construction zone at about 6:20 p.m. Duncan said she had a “sneezing fit” while trying to talk to Siri on her phone, according to a statement from police.

Troopers say Duncan looked up and saw that she was going to hit construction barrels so swerved to avoid them. She swerved sharply to the right and felt the load of cleaning solution shift, causing her truck and trailer roll over.

The rig is owned by Highway Transport out of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Duncan was wearing her seat belt and was not injured.  She was cited for unsafe lane movement, according to the report from the troopers.
