The spring storm loaded with winter weather appears to be living up to its forecasted hype as it causes travel problems in Colorado and South Dakota and is expected to create difficult driving Minnesota.

The National Weather Service’s forecast calls for as much as 2 feet of snow in western Minnesota tonight and into tomorrow. Elsewhere,  showers and thunderstorms will move into the Middle Mississippi Valley Thursday. The Weather Service is also warning of “an Enhanced Risk” of severe thunderstorms for the Central Plains yet today.

As the storm moves out of the Plains, showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of it overnight Thursday into Friday over parts of the Ohio Valley into parts of the Tennessee/Lower Mississippi Valleys, according to the Weather Service. A small area of rain/freezing rain and sleet is expected over parts of the Upper Great Lakes overnight Thursday into Friday.
