If your truck driving takes you through Michigan on Interstate 94, expect traffic delays on a section of the highway south of Detroit starting Monday, July 8.

The Michigan Department of Transportation said work is planned for 12 bridges and highway shoulders on I-94 between Interstate 275 and U.S. 24 in Wayne County. This is the section of the interstate near Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

During July, there will be lane closures during weeknights and weekends to upgrade the shoulders of I-94 between I-275 and US-24, according to MDOT. Beginning in early August, there will be two lanes open in each direction with traffic being shifted throughout the work zone. The project will also require entrance and exit ramp closures from time to time.

Most of the work will be completed by late fall, according to MDOT. However, crews are expected to return in the spring for minor painting and seal coating work.
