A truck driver and a Florida State Trooper died late last week in a crash that occurred during a high-speed police pursuit.

The crash occurred Friday, Feb. 2 on Interstate 95 in Port St. Lucie as the trooper was chasing a reckless driver. The fleeing suspect made an illegal turn, and the trooper followed, driving into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer. The trucker died at the scene and Trooper Zachary Fink died after having been transported to a local hospital.

The suspect escaped but struck a tree and fled on foot. Police later arrested Michael Addison, a 30-year-old resident of Broward County, who now faces 12 charges.

The identity of the trucker killed in the collision has yet to be released by authorities.
