Two people were killed and one was seriously injured over the weekend when an oversized load fell off its trailer and landed on another vehicle.
Saturday morning at 11:20am, Temple Fire and Rescue responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision on State Highway 36, just west of Highway 317. Upon arrival crews found an oversized load had come off of its trailer, pinning a vehicle beneath, accoring to a social media post by the department.
The load weighed some 350,000 lbs.
The department said it took some four hours to remove the injured driver of the vehicle, who was airlifted to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Temple Fire and Rescue responded with 10 units and 25 personnel.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
Texas 511 shows the portion of Highway 36 still closed today as crews continue cleanup.
Temple is located 67 miles north of Austin.
