Here's how some will show truck drivers they're appreciated

National Truck Drover Appreciation Week begins Sunday, Sept. 15 and lasts until Saturday, Sept. 21. During that span of time, many carriers, businesses and organizations will take time to recognize the contributions of truck drivers in a variety of ways.

Here are some of the special ways drivers will be appreciated:

United Insurance, MMTA thank truckers in Maine

Truckers in Maine will receive plenty of thanks and gifts next week courtesy of United Insurance and the Main Motor Transportation Association.

All week long, representatives from the two businesses will hand out free safety equipment and gifts to truckers. The schedul and locations include:

  • Monday, Sept. 16: 7:30 a.m. to noon, Irving truck stop, Fairfield; 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Irving truck stop, Farmington 
  • Tuesday, Sept. 17: 7:30 a.m. to noon, Irving truck stop, Auburn
  • Wednesday, Sept. 18: 8 a.m. to noon, Kennebunk Service Plaza
  • Thursday, Sept. 19: 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., Irving truck stop, Houlton; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Irving truck stop/Millinocket
  • Friday, Sept. 20: 8 a.m. to noon, Dysart’s truck stop, Hampden

Truckers passing through those locations are encouraged to stop in for complimentary safety vests, insulated work gloves, travel mugs and free coffee. 

PA organizations offer free food to truckers

The Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association is teaming up with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to offer a series of events for truck drivers in honor of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.

PMTA will be providing free meals, snacks and other giveaways to truck drivers at a series of PA Turnpike service plazas, Sheetz locations and welcome centers across Pennsylvania.

Clearfield County: Monday

Location: Sheetz Falls Creek Location - 1867 Rich Hwy, Falls Creek, PA 15840

Time: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.

Harrisburg Area: Tuesday

Location: Cumberland Valley Turnpike Service Plaza (Milemarker 219.10 East)

Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The PA Turnpike donated vouchers for free food inside the service plaza. PMTA will be handing out program information, safety tips and other giveaways.

Allentown Area: Wednesday

Location: Allentown Turnpike Service Plaza (Milemarker 55.90 North and South)

Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The PA Turnpike donated vouchers for a free coffee and donut from Dunkin’ inside the service plaza. PMTA will be handing out program information, safety tips and other giveaways.

Lancaster Area: Thursday

Location: Sheetz Marietta Location - 1158 River Rd.

Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sheetz donated coupons for free MTO items, trucker-style hats and other freebies to pass out to truck drivers. PMTA will be handing out program information, safety tips and other giveaways.

Pittsburgh Area: Thursday

Location: Oakmont Plum Turnpike Service Plaza (Milemarker 49.30 East)

Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

York Area: Friday

Location: I-83 Welcome Center – I-83 Northbound (2.5 miles north of PA/MD border)

Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Travel Centers of America will have special offers

TravelCenters of America next week will recognize the work professional drivers do every day. During National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, team members will pass out thank you cards with surprise special offers inside. Additionally, team members will wear pins sharing personalized messages about what they appreciate most about professional drivers.

At TA, Petro, and TA Express locations across the country, drivers will be welcomed with thousands of special offers compliments of Coca-Cola, Burger King, Pepsi, Keebler, Ruiz, and Howes (while supplies last) and several promotional offers including discounts on oil changes, merchandise and free meals.

Love to appreciate drivers all of September

Love’s Travel Stops is extending the National Truck Driver Appreciation Week celebrations with exclusive offers throughout September. All month, professional drivers can visit Love’s locations to redeem offers through Love’s loyalty program, My Love Rewards, and on the Love’s Connect App. 

A statement from Love’s said it is thankful for drivers year-round and to further recognize their contributions, Love’s has curated deals during Driver Appreciation Month, starting on Sept. 1. My Love Rewards members will receive an email with available offers and they can activate mobile deals with a single tap in the special offer email or in the Deals section of the Love’s Connect App.

Pilot says, 'Here's to you" to professional drivers

Pilot is celebrating truckers throughout September, saying “Here’s to You” to professional drivers with free drinks and special deals.

Featuring real professional drivers in its campaign, Pilot is celebrating the hardworking people behind the wheel of a big rig with a “Here’s to You” cheers and an inviting call to “See You Out Here.” Throughout September, Pilot will recognize truckers in its commercials, billboards, store signage and digital content.

Additionally, as a token of Pilot’s appreciation, truck drivers can save all September through use of the myRewards Plus app at participating Pilot, Flying J and One9 travel centers, including:

  • Three free drinks every week, including Pilot coffee, fountain drinks and top-selling beverage brands from the cooler
  • Exclusive discounts on popular snack items
  • Military and veteran professional drivers will receive extra discounts on snacks in addition to the 10% military discount on food and beverage (after authentication through ID.me)

Sheetz's appreciation goes all month

Sheetz  announced it will celebrate Truck Driver Appreciation Week for all of September with several deals for truck drivers.

They include:

  • Two hot dogz for $1 (does not include recipes, toppings or extras)
  • Free bag of fryz with any other purchase
  • Buy one 12 ounce Zoa energy drink, get the other free
  • Free ‘Nestle Pure Life’ or ‘Dasani’ 24-pack case of water with any $10+ purchase

The company said these offers are available for My Sheetz Rewardz members at all of Sheetz’s 750+ locations, limit one offer per customer transaction. The deals will be available for the remainder of September.

Sheetz said it will also be giving away free hats at its 45+ locations that offer truck diesel fuel from now until Sept. 30. Drivers can receive a hat by adding “TRUCKYEAH” on the Offerz tab of the Sheetz app. These hats will be available while supplies last, limit one per customer.

OOIDA & TAT giving away headsets

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association’s is partnering with TAT (formerly Truckers Against Trafficking) to celebrate NTDAW.

The organizations are working with Blue Tiger USA for a giveaway on Facebook during NTDAW. In an effort to honor owner-operators, TAT and OOIDA will give away five, over-the-ear, hands-free Storm Headsets, a donation from Blue Tiger.

The giveaway will be announced on TAT’s and OOIDA’s Facebook pages Monday, Sept. 16, and will be open for entry through Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. Winners will be announced on Friday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. Central.

Distributor of wines, spirits and beer toasts drivers

Martignetti Companies, New England’s leading distributor of wines, spirits and beer, will have a weeklong celebration recognizing the dedication and hard work of their drivers and warehouse support teams in Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Landstar truck giveaway during NTDAW

Landstar’s BCO Appreciation Days event in Durant, Oklahoma, Sept. 18 -19, falls in the middle of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. That gives Landstar employees and agents two great opportunities in one week to acknowledge Landstar BCOs for the dedication to the safety and service excellence they demonstrate every day of the year, said a statement from the company.

Business capacity owner (BCO) is Landstar's term for independent truck owner-operators leased to Landstar.

The annual BCO Appreciation Days event is two days of networking opportunities, educational presentations, safety meetings, prizes and a vendor expo, where BCOs can talk to companies that offer different services as part of the Landstar Contractors’ Advantage Purchasing Program.

The highlight of the two-day event is the 50th Landstar truck giveaway! Thursday evening Landstar will give away a 2025 Kenworth T-680. Landstar hosts two truck giveaways each year.

For Landstar independent owner-operators who cannot attend the celebration in Oklahoma,the company is serving lunch at each of its U.S. field operations centers. BCOs are invited to stop by for lunch at noon local time Monday through Friday of this week.
