60-year-old trucker dies in crash and fire on I-65 in Indiana

A trucker died late last week when his tractor-trailer caught fire and burned on Interstate 65 in Indiana.

The blaze occurred at about 10:40 a.m. Thursday, Dec.  19.

Officials with the Indianapolis Fire Department said the driver died after his truck left the roadway and struck several signs and a guardrail before catching fire. Authorities said the driver was a 60-year-old man, adding that he was hauling wood pallets at the time.

The identity of the semi-driver was not released.

The incident closed I-65 for several hours.
