Colorado has become the fourth state to consider legislation requiring a human driver be onboard any autonomous truck.
Democrat Representative Sheila Lieder in late January introduced the legislation, which requires a CDL holder to be in the truck to monitors the vehicle's driving, and and intervenes, if necessary, to avoid illegal or unsafe driving.
The bill includes a penalty is $1,000 for a first violation, and $2,000 for a second offense. Lider's legislation also calls for the fine to be doubled with each subsequent violation.
The states of New York, California and Indiana have such regulations.
Lider's legislation was assigned to the Transportation, Housing and Local Government Committee.
