Trucker dies in collision with Calif. commuter train; one passenger hurt

A trucker died Wednesday afternoon, June 25, when the tractor-trailer they were driving was struck by a passenger train in Moorpark, California.

The collision between the tractor-trailer and a Metrolink commuter train occurred on a private road in an agricultural section of land in the community. Authorities said the truck was loaded with lemons at the time of the crash and resulting fire.

The identity of the trucker was not released by authorities.

There were 11 passengers on the train at the time of the collision. One was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The train's passengers were taken by bus to a nearby Metrolink station.

Moorpark is a community west of Los Angeles.
