The Next Generation in Trucking Association recently launched the NEXT Top Talent Award, a new national recognition program honoring the rising stars of our industry — exceptional drivers and diesel technicians under the age of 30.
Launching this September—timed around Driver Appreciation Week and Technician Appreciation Week—the NEXT Top Talent Award will spotlight young professionals who exemplify excellence, safety, leadership, and passion in their roles. These individuals are not only succeeding in their careers, but they’re also inspiring others and shaping the future of the trucking industry.
“With the average age of today’s truck driver at 47, our industry must be intentional about attracting and retaining younger talent. Programs like the NEXT Top Talent Award shine a spotlight on the achievements of young professionals and help show the next generation that trucking offers meaningful, long-term career opportunities,” said Rebecca Brewster, president and COO of the American Transportation Research Institute .
The award honors young professionals who:
- Exhibit exceptional skill and professionalism
- Show a deep commitment to safety and quality
- Positively contribute to their team and organization
- Demonstrate initiative and career growth
- Inspire others with their work ethic and enthusiasm
Next Gen Trucking is accepting nominations through Aug. 29. If your company employs a standout driver or technician under 30, the organization wants to hear their story.

Companies are encouraged to include a photo and an optional short video showcasing the nominee’s story, personality, or work in action.
