Nagle Companies, a provider of temperature-controlled food transportation services, announced recently its acquisition of Kandel Transport Inc., another Ohio-based carrier specializing in refrigerated trucking services.
The strategic move strengthens Nagle’s service footprint, expands its fleet, and positions both companies for continued growth, according to a statement from Nagle.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
With the addition of Kandel’s fleet, the combined operation will now feature 115 tractors, 200 trailers, and generate about $45 million in annual revenue, the company said.
The partnership began years ago when Jack Daniels, owner of Kandel Transport, and Ed Nagle, president and CEO at Nagle Companies developed a professional relationship while operating in similar markets. In 2024, Daniels approached Nagle about forming a strategic partnership, which ultimately evolved into a full acquisition following months of collaborative discussions and evaluation.
“Kandel Transport has built a strong reputation for integrity, safety, and reliability,” said Nagle. “We saw early on that our companies shared not only the same values, but also complementary strengths. By joining forces, we’ll be able to provide enhanced resources, upgraded technology, and stronger network opportunities for our customers while supporting the talented team at Kandel.”
The acquisition gives Nagle additional strategic advantages, including Kandel’s crossborder operations into Canada. The combined scale also increases negotiating power in areas such as fuel, equipment, and parts purchasing, while providing capital efficiencies that benefit both employees and customers, said the statement.
Kandel Transport will continue to operate under its existing name and structure as integration efforts move forward.
“This partnership allows Kandel to remain true to who we are while also giving us access to resources that will strengthen our long-term future,” said Daniels of Kandel Transport. “Our drivers, staff, and customers will benefit from the expanded opportunities, modern technology, and operational expertise that come with being part of the Nagle family.”
The acquisition underscores Nagle Companies’ strategy of profitable growth while ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-first service across North America.
