During a recent week, Arizona Highway Patrol State troopers with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit conducted several details targeting seatbelt use and collision-causing violations along Phoenix Metro freeways.

Over 25 seatbelt citations were issued to commercial motor vehicle drivers in just one day, according to the troopers.

Numerous false logbook entries, drivers operating with flat tires, and equipment violations were also found. The troopers said in a statement that 46% of the commercial vehicles stopped were placed out of service.

Many of these violations could have been prevented with a simple pre-trip inspection, according to the troopers.

"The holiday season is approaching fast, and so is increased traffic," said the AHP  in a statement. "Our troopers would like to remind everyone to buckle up, check your vehicles before you travel and obey traffic laws to ensure a safe trip."
