The California Highway Patrol has some sound advice for truckers and others: “If you are a driver of a commercial vehicle (or any vehicle for that matter), please confirm the route your GPS or phone map provides you, especially if you are in a larger vehicle or are towing a trailer.”
CHP offered that bit of wisdom when a tractor-trailer become stuck on a one-lane gravel road in Placer County between Foresthill Road and Interstate 80, known as Yankee Jim’s. The incident occurred Jan. 4.
It took several hours to extricate the rig from its predicament.
“This (route) is almost impassable in a pick-up truck, let alone a big rig,” CHP said.
