Police in Louisiana Tuesday made one of the largest methamphetamine busts in that state's history when they stopped a tractor-trailer on an interstate.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office said officers from its K9 Division conducted a traffic stop with a tractor-trailer on eastbound Interstate 12 in Denham Springs just east of Baton Rouge.
During the traffic stop, deputies discovered over 789 pounds of methamphetamine concealed in the trailer, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.
The driver, Anton Vitalyevich Rakov, a Russian national, was taken into custody. The sheriff's office said Rakov was in the U.S. illegally.
Rakov remains in ICE custody as the investigation continues.
