Werner Enterprises, Inc., joins the rest of the trucking industry in celebrating National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, Sept. 13–19.
This year's celebration coincides with a major milestone for the company: 70 years in business. Founded in 1956 by a driver with just one truck, Werner’s driver-first legacy remains the foundation of its ongoing success.
“National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is a time to recognize the incredible men and women who keep our country moving,” said Werner’s Chairman and CEO, Derek Leathers. “Truck drivers take on one of the most critical and demanding jobs in our economy. Their dedication to safety, service and reliability inspires us every day, and we are proud to honor their contributions.”
This week and next, Werner will host Driver Appreciation Week events across its operational network, bringing celebrations directly to team members across Werner, Baylor and FirstFleet locations nationwide. These events bring together drivers, maintenance technicians, office associates and customers to show gratitude and celebrate team achievements, with members of Werner’s executive leadership team attending in person to engage in direct Q&A sessions.
Werner said it continues to invest in long-term driver success, with 60 percent of its driver workforce with one year or more of company experience. To support ongoing professional growth, Werner said it offers clear career pathing options designed to empower drivers at every stage of their journey—from new entrants to seasoned professionals seeking specialized routes or leadership roles.
