A St. Cloud, Minnesota-based carrier became the latest company to raise driver pay, giving many of its drivers a nearly 17% pay boost.

Anderson Trucking Service enacted one of the largest driver pay increases in company history. The increase raises cents-per-mile pay for regional company van drivers from $0.60 to $0.70 per mile, with rates reaching up to $0.72 per mile based on years of service.

The $0.10 CPM increase took effect on Monday, Sept. 7, for all ATS regional company van drivers. The higher rate applies to about 50 current drivers and establishes a more competitive starting rate for new hires.

ATS made the adjustment to better align driver pay with today’s freight market, according to a statement from the company. For drivers, the 16.7% pay increase translates into stronger earnings without requiring additional miles, with the higher CPM applying to both loaded and empty miles.

For ATS, the higher pay range strengthens its ability to recruit and retain professional drivers.

“This increase is well-deserved,” said Lars Offerdahl, Vice President of Van Operations at ATS. “Our drivers are the reason we’re able to serve our customers every day, and it’s important that we continue supporting them with stronger earning opportunities.”

ATS said it has made multiple driver pay adjustments this year and plans to continue evaluating pay as the freight market evolves. Competitive compensation remains part of the company’s ongoing effort to support the drivers who help ATS serve customers across the country.

In 1955, Harold Anderson started ATS with two trucks, and more than 70 years later, the family-owned company has grown into a nationwide transportation provider. .

Today, ATS offers company driver and independent contractor opportunities across van, flatbed, specialized, and heavy haul operations, giving professional drivers opportunities to earn, grow, and build their futures on the road.
