Velocity Vehicle Group announced Monday it has completed its acquisition of New West Truck Centres, bringing seven New West locations in Calgary, Balzac, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Taber, Medicine Hat and Cranbrook into the Velocity network. All seven locations will become part of Velocity Truck Centres Canada (VTC), a Velocity Vehicle Group company.
New West has served southern Alberta and BC trucking customers for more than a decade. It began in 2014 when the Calgary and Lethbridge Freightliner dealerships became New West Freightliner, and later grew with the addition of Dunlop Truck Centres, adding Western Star sales and service, Cranbrook and the Rocky Mountain Collision body shop. Today New West offers Freightliner and Western Star sales, parts, service and collision repair.
The acquisition builds on Velocity's entry into Canada in 2023 with First Truck Centre and P&R Truck Centres. About 300 New West team members join Velocity, bringing VTC to roughly 1,000 employees and 24 locations, the largest coverage of any dealer group in Western Canada.
Ryder acquires Efficiency Enterprises
Ryder System, Inc. has completed the acquisition of Efficiency Enterprises, a regional provider of fleet management, maintenance, and leasing solutions for trucks, trailers, and material handling equipment.
The acquisition adds six new locations in Orlando, Tampa, and Fort Myers, Florida; Astoria, New York; Baltimore, Maryland; and Middletown, Delaware, to Ryder’s fleet services network. In addition, the acquisition will bring about 50 technicians and a fleet of roughly 1,200 units into Ryder’s operations.
Financial terms of the deal are not disclosed.
The Efficiency Enterprises fleet includes more than 900 power and trailer units and over 200 material handling equipment units.
Founded in 1978 in Astoria, New York, by the Merinoff and Drucker families, Efficiency Enterprises began as a single‑site operation and later expanded into Florida, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey as customer demand grew.
Through the acquisition, Ryder expands its ability to support customers with integrated fleet management, maintenance, and transportation solutions. The transaction, which closed Nov. 1, is expected to add about $50 million in gross revenue to Ryder’s FMS business in 2027 and provide incremental growth to Ryder’s earnings.
To support a seamless transition and maintain uninterrupted services for customers, Efficiency Enterprises’ assets and operations will be integrated into Ryder’s network throughout the rest of 2026. Richard Barbato Jr., president of Efficiency Enterprises, will work closely with Ryder during the transition.
The six markets included in the transaction represent strategically important freight and distribution hubs across the Eastern United States. Central Florida continues to experience growth driven by distribution, e-commerce, and food and beverage logistics. Astoria provides access to dense urban delivery and last-mile operations across New York City, while Baltimore serves as a major gateway for port-related freight and manufacturing activity. Middletown sits within a key Mid-Atlantic distribution corridor connecting major East Coast markets. Together, these locations expand Ryder’s ability to support customers operating in diverse, high-demand transportation and logistics environments.
