Freightliner Sightliner from a scene in the 2011 movie “Real Steel”
Moments after we posted our story about the 1959 International Sightliner we saw at the American Truck Historical Society convention last month, a sharp-eyed Twitter follower asked:
“Is this what Hugh Jackman’s character drove in the film Real Steel?”
One quick Google search later and we found a video trailer for Real Steel, which was released in 2011 and featured the futuristic sport of robot boxing. Jackman stars as Charlie Kenton, the human behind one of the boxing robots. (You can stream Real Steal on Amazon for $2.99 or buy it for $14.99)
And, yes, a Sightliner shows up in that trailer. Look for it about :33 seconds in, then again at about 2:00.
