Three identical Volvo VNL 670 model trucks left the Port of Los Angeles and drove along Interstate 110 at 55 mph with just 50 feet between one another earlier this month.

This was not a usual trip for any of the trucks. Volvo earlier this week announced it was a successful test of truck platooning using Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (CACC) technology.

Volvo, which said the technology is meant to help drivers and not replace them, conducted the test with Partners for Advanced Transportation Technology at the University of California-Berkley.

These three videos give different looks at the test.
