Mark Rickard’s truck shines like it’s brand new, with clean chrome and a classic red and black paint job. Despite appearances, Rickard’s truck is actually an antique at 27-years-old. It’s a 1990 International 9670 that he’s completely redone.
“I re-did it all because it was worn out from front to back. I re-did it all and I started running it,” Rickard, of Maceo, Kentucky, said.
He’s had the truck for about six years. It was on display last week at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky as part of the American Truck Historical Society display.
Rickard bought a cabover because he wanted a truck that stood out.
“Everybody wanted a conventional and I wanted something different,” Rickard said. “I started out in cabovers so I wanted to go back to something like what I used to do.”
His truck has a 425 Caterpillar engine and 13-speed transmission. The interior has mostly been untouched, with the exception of a newer seat. He painted it himself.
