Connecticut State Police fined a trucking company more than $15,000 after stopping a truck with an unpermitted oversized load.

In a Facebook post, the troopers said the truck was stopped on Interstate 95 Wednesday, morning, May 24. After escorting the tractor-trailer to the southbound Fairfield rest area, troopers used portable scales to weigh the rig. It turned out to weigh 117,600 pounds or 37,600 pounds over the unpermitted 80,000-pound limit.

During the inspection, troopers found the driver had no oversized-overweight permit. That and other violations found during the inspection led troopers to place the truck out of service and issue citations that amounted to $15,470.

Troopers did not identify the driver or company involved.
