Daimler Truck North America and Navistar (now International) have issued recall notices for a combined total of 1,700 trucks due to issues related to a Cummins X15 equipment issue.
Navistar is recalling 1,100 model year 2025 International HX and LT trucks. Daimler is recalling 600 model year 2025 Freightliner Cascadia, Western Star 49X and Freightliner Custom Chassis XCM and XCP trucks.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the recalled trucks are equipped with Cummins X15 engines, which include certain fiuel pumps. The NHTSA said the fuel pumps installed in some engines may have been built with low-fatigue-strength parts. This makes the the fuel pump barrels susceptible to fracture, which could lead to a fuel leak and possibly cause the truck's engine to fail.
Both truck companies will work with Cummins, to replace the fuel pump barrels, free of charge, according to the NHTSA.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Nov. 22. Owners may contact Navistar Customer Service at 331-332-1590 or Cummins Customer Service at 812-377-5000. Cummins' number for the recall is C7083.
