
More than 1,300 violations were found during an inspection blitz in west Texas' oil-rich Permian Basin.
During the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance's International Roadcheck May 13-15, law enforcement officers conducted 443 inspections and found a total of 1,309 violations.
Details from the inspections include:
- Total Vehicles Placed Out-of-service: 168 (38%)
- Total Drivers Placed Out-of-service: 19 (4%)
- Total CVSA Decals Issued: 60
Participating in the enforcement efforts were Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Troopers, Level I certified Highway Patrol Troopers, and MCSAP officers from the Midland Police Department and Odessa Police Department, Ector County Sherriff’s Office and the Ward County Sheriff’s office.

The Permian Basin spans parts of 61 Texas counties and extends into southeastern New Mexico. It's roughly 250 miles wide and 300 miles long.
