One of Washington’s hottest topics — infrastructure — was the topic of two panel discussions Monday night in the capital. Sens. Deb Fischer (R-Nebraska) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota) were on one. Politico staged the discussions and reported today that “Fischer wants to see each element — airports, broadband, roads — get its own bill, while Klobuchar argued it was best to ‘go big.’ with one package for all aspects. The media site also quotes Ed Mortimer, executive director of transportation infrastructure at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said the current enthusiasm for infrastructure improvements represents a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to raise sustainable revenues. The panel discussions were sponsored by Americans for Modern Transportation, which includes several major trucking interests. Watch both panels on this video.
