A North Carolina bridge under construction along I-77 had to be dismantled and removed after sustaining serious damage from the impact of a raised bed of a dump truck. The North Carolina Highway Patrol reports that the truck slammed into the bridge that is under construction Aug. 29, according to FOX 46 Charlotte.
Troopers say the driver had dropped off a load of material for the project and was on his way to get another load, but forgot to lower the dump bed. The bridge had to be removed because of the amount of damage. The driver was treated for minor injuries and charged with careless and reckless driving.
