A Travis County Sheriff's deputy was hospitalized after being pinned under a tractor-trailer that slid off an icy highway in TexasTuesday, Jan. 31.
The officer had stopped to assist the driver of another tractor-trailer driver who had gone off northbound State Highway 130 in Austin around 8:45 a.m. While at the scene of the first accident, the second tractor-trailer slid off the highway pinning the deputy under one of its tires, according reports of the incident.
Other first responders at the scene were able to free the deputy, who was transported to a hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
Texas and other parts of the mid-south have been coated with ice and freezing rain the past several days.
