Tractor-trailer fire causes cargo explosions, damages Interstate 65

Part of Interstate 65 in northwestern Indiana was closed and damaged Monday, April 21, afternoon when a tractor-trailer caught fire.

Indiana State Police said the driver stopped when they sensed something was wrong with their truck. It was then a damaged brake caught fire and the blaze engulfed the tractor-trailer and it cargo of spray paint cans, which exploded and spread the fire to both aides of the interstate.

The driver was not injured.

The section of interstate where the fire occurred was heavily damaged but has been reopened.

The incident occurred near mile marker 232 about 118 miles west of Fort Lane.
