Eat This, Not That: Wendy’s chicken

Updated Aug 12, 2014

Fried chicken sandwichWhen you are at a fast-food restaurant and trying to watch what you eat, sometimes all it takes is a little common sense. For example, choose grilled over fried, and you’re almost always guaranteed to come out with fewer calories and less fat.

Here’s how the Wendy’s Crispy Chicken Deluxe sandwich stacks up against its Ultimate Chicken Grill sandwich:

Calories:

Crispy Chicken Deluxe has 460 calories

Ultimate Chicken Grill has 350 calories

Difference: 110, or 5.5 percent of your daily caloric intake based on a 2,000 calorie diet

Grams of fat:

Crispy Chicken Deluxe has 25g total fat, 7g saturated fat

Ultimate Chicken Grill has 7g total fat, 1.5g saturated fat

Difference: 18g total fat, 5.5g saturated fat

The Ultimate Chicken Grill has less than a third the total fat and saturated fat as the Crispy Chicken Deluxe. So if you’re at Wendy’s and in the mood for chicken, remember: Think grilled.
