Suicide by Truck: Driver & counselor discuss the issue

It is difficult — almost impossible — to imagine that someone would draw an innocent bystander into their desire to end their life.

But, it happens, and it’s especially distressing when they do it by stepping in front of or driving headlong into a speeding truck on the highway.

“The trauma for the trucker is similar to those who are used against their will in suicide by cop or suicide by train,” says Dr. Dan Reidenberg, managing director of the National Council for Suicide. “The post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms can be severe and last a lifetime.”
