Malcolm John Rebennack — better known as Dr. John the Night Tripper — died Thursday, June 6 at the age of 77. He leaves behind a large and colorful musical legacy that landed him in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and deep in the hearts of people who love New Orleans and its music. He started playing at the age of 13 and his career included playing with the likes of the Rolling Stones, The Band, Canned Heat, Gregg Allman, Van Morrison, Leon Redbone, Ringo Starr, and B.B. King.
