Capitol Christmas tree to make 30 stops on trip to D.C.

The process of delivering the Capitol Christmas tree to Washington, D.C. gets started a little more than a month from now.

Artesia, New Mexico-based Wilbanks Trucking Services will haul the across the country, making stops in 30 communities along the way. The journey begins Nov. 11 when the tree leaves Carson National Forest in north-central New Mexico.

Wilbanks, a 100-truck fleet, specializes in hauling oversized, overweight loads will haul the tree on the 2,000-mile journey. This year’s tree will make its way to the U.S. Capitol behind a Kenworth W990.

The tree’s journey can be tracked in real-time online at capitoltreetracker.com.
