Today is the day the U.S. recognizes the more than 19 million men and women who have served in its military. Many of them are now part of this country’s trucking industry.

Major truck stop chains are among the businesses honoring veterans today with free or discounted meals and/or other services and products.

As it has for the past several years, Truckers News today recognizes some of the truck drivers on the road today who proudly served in the military. You can see them during their time of service here.

The trucking industry and the federal government continue to create opportunities for veterans, and many are recognized for their driving excellence. The last two Trucking’s Top Rookies — Mordaunt “Platt” Brabner and Dwight Arnold — have been military veterans, and there is a special program to recognize veterans who become truckers.
