Drivers for a leading hazardous material transporter will receive a pay increase in 2016.

Secured Land Transport (SLT) CEO John Wilbur approved pay increases for both solo and team drivers recently.

New SLT drivers will see an almost 10 percent increase with guaranteed day pay improving from $150/day to $157.75/day and a cents per mile (cpm) bonus increasing from .02 start to .04 start.

Current SLT drivers will receive an automatic increase of .02 cpm for performance bonus miles.

SLT also announced a new pay tier called the “Elite Driver Plan.”  Under it, any current SLT driver that has hazmat/tanker, TWIC, permanent DOD clearance and a QE permit, plus at least one year of service with SLT, is eligible for an increase day pay guarantee of $185.71 per day or $1,300 week plus at least and .08 cpm bonus.  Elite Drivers will average $1,490 to $1,740 per week, which the company says is 28 percent to 38 percent higher than the national average, according to US Dept. of Labor.
