Sometimes it’s the little things that matter most.

It’s not always the big things that make the difference between a good trip and a bad haul. Sometimes it’s something simple, something easy that makes you feel a bit better and when done repeatedly pays big wellness dividends.

Toward that end, keep theses ideas in mind:

Tip 1. Chewing gum can help reduce stress and improve concentration while multi-tasking. Choose sugar-less gum for a calorie-free boost.

Tip 2. To kick-start your metabolism for the day, eat a breakfast that contains protein, fiber and fat. Try a scrambled egg and a cup of berries.

Tip 3. If you have a sore joint, apply ice wrapped in a towel or a cold pack to the area for no more than 20 minutes. A bag of frozen peas works well too. Don’t put the ice directly on your skin.

Tip 4. Pack all your daily portions of snacks before you hit the road. Put in reusable zip-top bags and keep handy for snack attacks.

Tip 5. Practice active listening by truly hearing what someone is telling you. Reframe it back to them by saying things such as, “I hear you saying you are struggling with this decision.”

Tip 6. When eating at a restaurant, order an appetizer and a salad instead of a full entrée. Smaller dishes make for a reasonably sized meal, nd you can save a few bucks as well.

Tip 7. Take a deep breath into your belly to help relieve stress. Breathing deeply like this   activates the part of the nervous system, which is in charge of keeping us calm. Belly breathing also helps elevate energy, focus, concentration and memory.

See, now that wasn’t so hard.
