Midwest refrigerated carrier raises pay

Effective March 30 K&B Transportation is boosting mileage pay for company drivers by 4 cents per mile. New drivers will now start at 45 cents per mile.

The South Sioux City, Neb. refrigerated carrier says this amounts to a 10 percent increase in driver pay, the second such hike in two years.

Drivers also receive scheduled 1 cent per mile raises at 6 months, and then each year up to seven years and topping out at 50 cents per mile.  This increase will give all drivers a raise of over $5,000 yearly, increasing pay by more than 10 percent.

K&B Transportation guarantees drivers at least 2,500 miles a week. If drivers don’t get at least 2,500 miles in a week, the company pays the difference. They say the raise guarantees new hires a minimum of $1,125 per week.

Drivers can also earn bonuses for safety, clean inspections and referrals.

K&B Transportation operates throughout the central portion of the U.S.
