Scott Darling’s last day at the helm of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) ended, but his time running the agency did not.
Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx today announced that Darling will continue to run the FMCSA, but without the title of acting administrator. Darling assumed that title last August when Administrator Anne Ferro left after running the agency for five years.
President Obama has yet to nominate a successor to Ferro. However, federal law allows Foxx to have Darling continue to perform the duties of the administrator. But, he will no longer be referred to as the acting administrator.
Darling has served at FMCSA’s general counsel.
